Policy Research and Advocacy
People are living longer, and this is one of the great achievements of mankind. Life expectancy for Pakistan in 2020 is 67.33 years, it is expected that it will be increased to 71.35 years by 2050. Currently the number of people of age 60 and above in the country is more than 15 million; with population ageing it is expected that it will be increased to 45 million by 2050.
Population ageing is great for our societies as we will have opportunities to learn and gain from the experience of older people, but at the same time we need to make sure that older people are living in an environment where their dignity is not compromised, and they are living a happy, healthy and a secure life.
We work with government, media, academia, civil society, and older people to raise awareness not only on rights and issues of older people but also on potential and contributions of older people to the society.
We believe that with population ageing needs to be addressed both in the existing social protection, health care and humanitarian policies as well as there is need to have laws and policies addressing specific needs of older people. In this regard, we generate evidence to support informed policy formulation.
