In August 2022, Pakistan experienced one of the worst floods in its history, affecting over 33 million people
across the country. The disaster resulted in 1,739 deaths, 12,876 injuries, and over a million livestock lost.
The flood also caused extensive damage to infrastructure, including 2,288,481 houses partially or fully
damaged, 439 bridges and 13115 kilometers of roads were damaged. Furthermore, the National Disaster
Management Authority (NDMA) declared 90 districts calamity-hit.
The impact of this natural disaster was devastating, leaving many people struggling to cope with the loss of
their homes and livelihoods. In response, HelpAge International, with support from donor agencies
including the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), Jersey Overseas Aid Commission (JOA), Concern
Worldwide – Rapid Fund, and German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO), partnered with local implementing
partners to provide critical assistance to affected communities in the calamity-hit districts of Sindh
(Khairpur, Shikarpur, Dadu, Jacobabad), Punjab (Rajanpur), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Nowshera), and
Balochistan (Jhal Magsi).
